There are a couple of things I’m really good at doing – one of them is packing fast. This came in really handy today, or as I like to call it, M-DAY! Moving flats has been scary but also kind of easier than I was expecting and my new room kicks ass!

Firstly let’s talk about finding an actual place. London is full of places. There’s always hundreds upon hundreds of rooms going. I’ve spent so long looking for the right place I felt like giving up. The balance is always finding somewhere nice that is also affordable. I found this room, and BAM. Everything makes sense. I placed my application same day. 4 days later, I’ve moved in.

I don’t know how long most people take to do it. I got the confirmation, I packed my stuff, I hired a van for 2 hours and I moved! There’s 4 bedrooms here, so I’ll be sharing with three other girls. I’ve only met one so far, but she seems nice. It’s closer to central London and I’m excited to explore around. Rumour has it there’s some fun burger places near by.

After packing the majority of my stuff I came to the realisation I have a ton of stuff. A lot of it seems to be junk. I decided to throw the stuff I really didn’t need away. I still probably kept too much though, and I know for a fact about 50% of my clothing I no longer wear so I will have to find a charity shop nearby that will take it.

Next came finding a man with a van. Because I have no furniture to transport I thought it would be an easy job, and yet so many people were asking for ridiculous prices. In the end I went with a more reputable company – although the driver didn’t speak a word of english.

This has always confused me. If someone comes from another country  in the EU they can drive in England with that. However I just feel that this isn’t safe, other countries have different road laws and they even drive on a different lane. I feel like some sort of test should be done! Well the driver was pretty good except for the part where he didn’t speak a word of english.

Everything was packed, we were on the road and unpacked in less than 2 hours. Just like that I have a new home. Weird.

I have unpacked all my kitchen stuff, which wasn’t much besides a collection of bento utensils. My cloths haven’t been unpacked yet, and I’m actually a little worried about doing it. There’s so much of it, it’s a little ridiculous. I’m waiting for a bookshelf which Questof was so wonderfully awesome to buy for me from my wishlist so my books aren’t unpacked either! Really, I’m living in boxes!

The biggest problem actually is that I had no bedding, and finding bedding is a lot harder than I thought. After tresping around for about an hour, I had managed to pick up two pillows, a duvet, bed sheets and covers. I came back and found out there was another essential item missing, toilet paper! So back out I went and  I also got some butter and creme fraiche and eggs for breakfast. Forgot the bacon. I also picked up some vanilla candles.

So all in all, I feel great about the new place! It’s spacious and smells of vanilla!
