Everyone knows oysters are an aphrodisiac, but are they the best foods for sex? I’ve compiled my own list of foods and recommendations on how to use them to boost your sex life.

Oysters and seafood

Let’s get the oyster thing out of the way first and foremost. Oysters are known to be rich in zinc, which helps promote libido. But they’ve been scientifically proven to up your body’s sexual activity by containing two unusual amino-acids, scientists have discovered. Of course, not everyone likes the idea of eating raw oysters. You can always eat oil rich fish such as salmon, which will also give your libido a boost.

If you like oysters, then fantastic, you’re in luck! They’re super easy to prepare, once you manage to open them. All you need is a squeeze of lemon, a few drops of tabasco and maybe some finely diced pickled onions. Then you eat it all in one go.

If you prefer something like salmon, eating it raw is the most efficient way. Why not try making your own salmon sushi? You can also eat it by itself sashimi style with some soy sauce and wasabi.

Not into raw food? Get some sardines or anchovies and stick them on a thin crust pizza. You can swap cheese for olive oil, and put some fresh rocket on top if you want to stay healthy.

Avocados

I can’t advocate avocados enough. Avocados are my go-to ingredient when I’m trying to lose weight. They are high in fat content, but it’s monounsaturated fat which is the healthy one.

They’ve been considered an aphrodisiac since the aztecs, who called them testicle fruit for their shape. They are high in vitamin E however, which helps your energy levels.

I love making guacamole. It’s my go to recipe for avocados. It goes great with some toasted bread, or nacho chips. There are lots of ways to use avocado though. I like to eat it with scrambled eggs on toast in the morning. Sometimes I like to just bake the egg straight in the hole of a half avocado.

Strawberries and chocolate

I’ve always wondered if these two items are actual aphrodisiacs, or if people just really like them, and it makes them happy which means the chances of them wanting sex goes up.

Studies have shown that red is an arousing colour. This is why women will wear red lipstick. Strawberries also have folic acid as well as one of the vitamin Bs, which helps sperm count in men.

Dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants which have lots of positive health benefits. There have been studies that show it can raise dopamine levels, which elevates your pleasure. Milk chocolate isn’t as beneficial, and white chocolate doesn’t really count.

You can make some chocolate dipped strawberries super easily. These are quick to make, easy to jazz up, and they are super romantic. The aesthetics alone is sure to get your girl in the mood.

Fruit high in vitamin C

Vitamin C is fantastic for your sexual health. It helps with blood flow, and has been linked to helping with erectile dysfunction. It also doesn’t leave a bad smell on your breath like garlic, which is also good for blood flow, does.

You can get vitamin C in loads of different ways as well. Obviously there’s lemon, oranges and other citrus fruits. But you can also get it from kiwis, spinach, melons, tomatoes, basil and well, a lot of other foods. There’s no excuse not to get enough vitamin C in your diet.Why not try pineapple? It has vitamin C, and it’s also been known to help improve the taste of your sperm.
