My first day at the AVN Expo was everything I expected it to be and more. That is, i didn’t know what to expect, and it kept me on my toes the entire day. It was overwhelming and exciting, but the one thing I’ve learnt about the industry is how super nice and friendly everyone is.
The first thing that happening was lining up for my access badge. The line was decent, but the wait took forever thanks to come people that cut the line. About 20 in fact. There was this big guy at one of the booths, who kept ushering girls from the company he worked for. I can’t remember who, but it was some strip club in Vegas I vowed never to visit. The line did give me a chance to bond with Alana Evens, nominated for Best Supporting Actress, who was much more vocal about her distaste for line cutters!
The Exhibition is set up over several rooms, one dedicated to camsites and pornstars, the other dedicated to sex toys, novelty items and other random things. The first thing I did was to check out the MFC booth which was very quiet, and the second thing i did I was to run around trying to map out where everything was.
I saw Asa Akira whilst I was running around, practically alone, and I wanted to go up and say hi to her but I was just too shy. This was my pornstar hero, not 2 metres away, but i couldn’t even go up to say hi. I just ran past about 3 times, making the doormen think I was either lost or really into fitness.
There were other huge names, and I realised that I probably wouldn’t have time to do any camming at the AVN awards because i would be so busy trying to talk and interview all the amazing people. Some people, such as Asa Akira or James Deen needed booking, via their agency, so for someone like me, that was practically impossible. I’ve sent emails anyway in the hope of it happening but who knows!
I was however able to get interviews with some super cool people, including the wonderfully beautiful star “Little Red Bunny” who won last year’s “Camgirl of the Year” as well as being nominated again this year, along with her website for Best Solo Girl Website. She was just as beautiful in person as she is in her photos, and she posses an elegance that had me in awe. I was so happy and felt very lucky that she let me interview her.
I was also able to meet Adorabubbles at the MFC booth and gave her an interview along with DJ_Kiki. Honestly, there were so many people, some of whom I recognised, others who I thought I should have recognised. Overall, I think the one thing I’ve learnt from all this is that I need to watch more porn! I’m hoping to get even more interviews done for the rest of the show, with my favourite pornstars. At the very least, I hope to get some selfies taken with them!
The highlight of my day however comes down to two events. The first was meeting Hitomi Tanaka, who although didn’t speak much english was super friendly and still did an interview with me! She also gave me an unexpected kiss! The second, and best part, was meeting Nina Hartley who gave me some real, honest advice on how to make it in the industry. She was friendly, caring and probably the best person I’ve ever met since I walked into this industry.
The day went by amazingly fast, but i suppose it did only start at 2pm. Frankly, I was completely knackered by 8pm and I could barely make it to the MFC models meet up. I’m glad I was able to make it to the meet up however as I was able to meet some of my favourite camgirls, including Austin White and Aella_Girl. It seemed almost unreal to be able to meet them all in person!
I also had to pass on the penthouse party for MFC models, on the account of being so tired I nearly passed out standing up. Next year, if I’m able to come to the AVNs, I’ll be sure to save energy for that event! I have the rest of this years AVN expo to get through first though!
